Associate Conductor Program
Chorus Niagara's Associate Conductor program is a very important part of our choral family. Working closely with our Artistic Director, the Associate Conductor assists with new and yearly auditions as well as placements for current choristers; has conducting opportunities at rehearsals and during major concerts in Partridge Hall; recommends repertoire and soloists to the Programming Committee; and assists in determining workshop topics and clinicians.
This position is an opportunity for an emerging conductor to gain experience leading an engaged and dedicated community singers in both rehearsal and performance, gain insight into the logistics of leading a choral organization, and to learn from one of Canada’s foremost choral musicians, Robert Cooper.
Expectations
Attend and sing all rehearsals and concerts during their time of employment (the choir meets weekly on Monday evenings in St. Catharines)
Conduct the choir in rehearsals and performances as assigned
Lead sectional rehearsals and warm-ups as needed
Assist the Artistic Director in logistical tasks such as required
Oversee Robert Cooper Choral Scholars program and participants
Receive feedback and instruction from Artistic Director
Offer collaborative insight with regards to artistic programming and the choir’s development
Be a member of the choir’s Programming Committee and Youth Engagement Committee (only meet a few times a season)
Occasionally meet with choir Chair, Managing Director, and Artistic Director as requested

Qualifications
Preferred candidates will have completed a B.Mus and are pursuing advanced studies in conducting (masters or like experience).
Candidates will also have a strong vocal ability and ample evidence of choral experience.
