Administrator

Chorus Niagara is the premier arts organization in the Niagara Region, serving children and adults a unique and enriching opportunity to learn, create, imagine, and grow through high-calibre choral music experiences. Chorus Niagara is a family of choirs with multiple programs and choral opportunities for individuals ages 5 – 75.
 

Position

Chorus Niagara is hiring an Administrator to join our small but mighty operations team.
Reporting to the Managing Director and working collaboratively with CN’s artistic team, the Administrator provides administrative and logistical support for CN’s operations in areas including but not limited to programs, resources, communications, memberships, fund development, and office administration
. This is a work-from-home, contract position; however, being based in the Niagara region is preferred. Some evening and/or weekend hours will occasionally be required for meetings and events.


Responsibilities

  • Organize CNCC and CN records (ie – payments, chorister registrations, etc)

  • Attend CN and/or CNCC evening rehearsals, parent meetings, concerts, team meetings, festivals, and tours as required. Rehearsals and concerts take place in St. Catharines;

  • Use computers in a windows environment (word processing/spreadsheets) as well as have strong data entry, filing and mailing skills. Familiarity with cloud-based software/applications an asset.

  • Implement and oversee recruitment activities including auditions and school outreach in partnership with CNCC Conductor and Managing Director;

  • Coordinate logistics of CNCC rehearsals and concerts, and arrange CN/ CNCC audition venues and scheduling;

  • Order uniforms, theory books, marketing materials etc;

  • Assist the Managing Director and representative committee member to execute press releases, advertising, calendar listings, brochures/postcards, eblasts, public service announcements, and other communications;

  • Work with CN Managing Director to develop and maintain CNCC budget;

  • Maintain and input information into CN’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system;

  • Submit monthly reports of work completed to the Managing Director;

  • Attend Chorus Niagara board meetings as required, with written reports submitted to the Managing Director

       bi-monthly.

 

The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills as there is frequent communication with volunteers, singers, and parents. Communication is primarily via email, telephone, and in-person on a regular basis with other staff or contract workers of CN. This will include answering questions, disseminating information, and addressing complaints. The ideal Administrator will have excellent communication skills, be detail oriented, have strong office and organizational skills and be comfortable with working with deadlines. They will also work well with others in a
self-directed capacity.

 

Requirements
The successful candidate will:

  • Have a valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle;

  • Have a Vulnerable Persons Sector check (asked only of successful candidate);

  • Have a home office, computer (and high-speed internet) and phone;

  • Be able to work flexible hours.

 

This is a 12-month contract position for approximately 15 hours per week, subject to renewal.

 

Experience in education, non-profits and/or arts administration is preferred, but not necessary.

Familiarity with and interest in choral music is an asset.
 

Remuneration
$18 - $20/hr, approximately 15 hours a week. Out of province or travel engagements are negotiated separately.
